Fritz Gerhard Berthelsen bassclarinet, clarinet and visual performer

Born 1963 in Copenhagen, Denmark. Studied first with Haakon Vestly in Norway and later with Professor Thomas Friedli at the Conservatoire de Musique de Genève. In 1992 he was awarded the I. Prix Virtuosité. Then followed two years of intensive studies with Aart Rozeboom from the Netherlands. Fritz Gerhard Berthelsen has played in orchestras in Germany, France and Schwitzerland, but simultaneously he has been working intensively with contemporary experimental music combined with live- electronics and visual performance. In 1997, together with composer Ejnar Kanding, he founded the Danish electroacoustic music ensemble Contemporánea, with which he among several composer portraits in the past years, can count 6 CD realeses and more than 40 first preformances both on Danish radio broadcast and on tour around Europe, Asia, USA and South America. As a visual performer, Fritz has, performed with Association Epopeé de Europe (Schweitzerland), Forum Berlin (Germany) and Teater Kaleidoskop in Copenhagen. Fritz has among others performed solo works at the ICMC in Beijing (China), the ISCM in Hong Kong, Interactive Arts Performance Series, New York City (USA), International Computer Conference, Havana (Cuba), Bridges festival, Krakow (Poland) and Festival Syntese in Burges (France).
